When is the best time to see the Northern Lights?
Mid-September to End-march
October - December

Which flights to take to Norway?
Good connectivity flights
- From Asia - Emirates & Qatar flights have good routes.
- Finnair & Turkish Airlines have good deals.
- To Tromsø - You need to take internal flights from Oslo Gardermoen Airport via SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) or Norwegian
- We are BIG ON SAFETY.Thus, we don’t recommend that clients drive in winter, unless you are highly experienced in driving in winter.
What kind of winter activities can I do with my young kids in Tromsø, Norway ?
Kids Friendly Activities In Winter-Tromsø
- Whale-Watching (Seasonal - November to Early February)
- Reindeer-Sledding. Safe. Not very fast. Suitable for young kids.
- Reindeer Feeding. Kids can interact with these animals.
- Meet the Sami Tribe (Indigenous people in Norway)
- Ice-Hotels looks like Igloos. Kids need to dress appropriately due to low temperatures indoors, 0-2 degrees.
How to increase my chances to catch the Northern Lights?

Northern Light Chase
- Small group
- Guides or the Northern Lights experts will base on various data like weather forecast and Aurora activity
- Guides know the roads well. Higher chance of you being at the right places, at the right time to catch the Northern Lights.
- The chase is generally for 6-7 hours (6 pm - 1 am). However, there is no limit in terms of timing. Chases can go on til 3am too if the group is keen
- The chase involved some walking.
Base-Camp Experience- Comfortable
- You can sit inside a podium or tippi tent to warm up
- Highly suitable for families with young children
- There are various camps. You are taken to the one with the highest sighting probability that night
- Big group for this activity
- There is a time limit.
How to keep warm? Use MITTENS!
Why MITTENS?
- Mittens are warmer as the fingers keep one another warm
- Special gloves with touch index for phones are available
- Woollen ones are great for keeping warm and for shopping trips but not for outdoor activities
- For outdoor purposes, gloves and mittens must be waterproof in case of contact with snow
Number ONE MISTAKE in catching the Northern lights!
Top tips here
- Do not book hotel or resort to stay put for days. You have to go out and chase!
- Book all your activities prior to confirming the hotel. Your hotel may be too far from where the activities are held. It’s a shame to miss out on the activities you’ve dreamt of doing
- Leave it to the experts to help you catch the Northern Lights. They know the area best
So how cold is COLD in Norway?

- Winter lasts from December to March
- Norway receives a lot of snow in winter
- Nov/Dec temperature -2 to +5 ℃
- Jan/Feb are the coldest also the best time for winter activities.
- Winter temperatures in Tromsø can dip up to -25 ℃, mostly at night
- Must dress appropriately - warm jackets, woolen inner, woolen socks, mittens, warm caps
- Milder temperatures in September and October but no snow

- There are two airports near Oslo.
- Oslo Lufthavn is located at Gardermoen (50 km from Oslo) is the main Airport.
- Torp Sandefjord Airport (110 km from Oslo). Many low budget flights land here
- You have to come to Gardermoen Oslo airport for flights to Tromsø to see Northern Lights.
- You can also take flights to Bergen from Gardermoen Oslo Airport
- Taxi from Gardermoen to Oslo takes about 40 mins and costs around 600-700 NOK to Oslo city centre
- In winter, taxis will take longer due to snow and may cost more
- There are two kinds of trains from airport to Oslo Central Station - Flytoget or Airport Express Train which comes every 10 mins. The local trains cost half the price as the Express Airport Trains but they are less frequent.
